The Historical Archive of the Municipality of Athens is gradually enriched with archival material from the Municipality’s services, pursuant to Municipal Council Decision No. 948/2015 “Introduction of historical archival material and documents of municipal services to the Municipal and Historical Archive Department of the Decentralization and Administration Directorate for the formation of individual collections of the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Athens”.
In this context, the following collections have been acquired and will be made available for research upon completion of archival processing:
- Records of the old Municipal Register (jackets)
- Financial, administrative documents and plans regarding the activity of the Garden and Tree Rows Committee, the Greenery Service of the Municipality of Athens, and the National Garden
- Plans, loose documents, maps of the former Topographic Directorate and the Urban Planning Department of the City Plan and Building Directorate
- Loose and bound documents, jackets of the 1st and 2nd Cemetery
- Correspondence archive of the 5th Municipal District
- Archive of publications (press clippings) of the Mayoral tenure of G. Kaminis
The survey of the archives comprising the Historical Archive of municipal services was implemented within the framework of the action “Mapping of archival material of the Municipality of Athens” by the Archives of Contemporary Social History (ASKI) in 2013.
