Educational visit to the Archives

As part of its educational programs, the Municipal and Historical Archives welcome groups of students to its offices. The program “Learning to Research the Municipal Archives” aims to familiarize students with archival research and highlight the archives as key repositories of social memory.
The visit includes hands-on activities organized into four thematic units:

Classification: Students understand the methodology of organizing an archive by searching for documents based on the classification system and accession numbers.
Conservation: Using specialized equipment, such as gloves and magnifying glasses, participants examine physical damage to documents (e.g., from moisture or insects).
Reading: Through the study of old manuscripts, students practice extracting and understanding specific historical information from primary sources.
Digitization: The process of scanning documents is presented, emphasizing the distinction between digital access and the imperative of preserving the physical original.

Through this process, the importance of the archive as an indisputable source for documenting historical truth and protecting against misinformation (fake news) is highlighted.
